Want to be at the forefront of renewable energy solutions? Desire a career that really makes a difference to our planet? Then get ready, as this virtual work experience programme will introduce you to some of the most exciting careers in this sector, with none other than the global leader on climate action - Ørsted.

What's included

From green energy solutions such as solar energy and onshore and offshore wind, to the more behind-the-scenes roles in management and back office, this programme will offer you a whistle-stop tour of all corners of Ørsted. You’ll even get the opportunity to hear from the industry professionals themselves in our very own Springpod Sessions. Not only this, but you’ll also complete a series of quizzes and fun activities to help build your understanding of the industry and cement your new-found knowledge. What’s not to like?

Introduction to Ørsted

In this module, you’ll be introduced to all things Ørsted. We’ll cover some of the areas of work on offer at the energy company, and some of the culture and values adopted by team Ørsted. We’ll explore Ørsted’s stance on sustainability before you’re given the chance to reflect on your knowledge of Ørsted so far.

Green Energy

After an introduction to green energy solutions, we’ll take a look at some exciting developments in solar energy, offshore and onshore wind, renewable hydrogen and energy storage solutions. You’ll be introduced to the concept of renescience before getting to pitch renewable energy sources yourself in this module’s interactive activity.

Technicians

Bring in the technicians! In this third module, we’ll explore the roles and responsibilities involved in this work area. We’ll take a look at some offshore projects, Ørsted’s stance on health and safety, and a typical day in the life of a wind technician. You’ll even take a virtual tour of an Ørsted site and recap what you’ve learned so far in this module’s quiz.

Management

For this module on management, we’ll first take a look at some of the roles and responsibilities involved in being an Ørsted leader. We’ll uncover how managers get involved with offshore projects, and explore the concept of project management in further detail. You’ll even get a behind-the-scenes scoop on a typical day in the life of a manager at Ørsted, allowing you to learn from the very best!

Back Office Support

In this programme’s sixth module, we’ll discover the importance of back-office support in a large company such as Ørsted. This includes everything from media to land and development - so there really is something for everyone at Ørsted! For this module’s interactive activity, you’ll be challenged to write your very own press release, so we want to see you get creative here!

Early Career Pathways

Once you’ve taken a look at some of the brilliant careers involved at Ørsted, we’re sure you’ll want to know how to get involved. That’s why we’ll explore some of the early career pathways on offer, such as apprenticeships and graduate schemes. We’ll take a look at the typical application process before you take your turn in the hot seat with this module’s mock interview activity.

Employability Skills

Put your employability skills to the test in this final module. We’ll discuss the importance of employability skills before deep diving into teamwork, problem-solving and communication. You’ll be prompted to identify some professional strengths and weaknesses in this module’s activity, concluding the programme with a reflective learning summary.

When will I hear back if I have been successful with my application?

Once you have applied for your programme, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be notified about the outcome of your application via email at least 3 days before the programme start date. Good luck!

Can I apply to multiple programmes?

Yes, you can sign up to multiple programmes with us.

Who can take part in the programme?

Most of our programmes require students to be in school/college. Some programmes require students to be based in specific regions of the UK, this is stipulated by the organisations themselves, and is not defined by Springpod.

However, the ages mentioned on our programmes are more of a guideline than a strict limit. As such, we more than welcome older students to apply as well!

Will I receive a certificate on completion of the programme?

You will receive a certificate on completion of your programme. It will be made available to download whenever your programme is marked as complete.
